781807 Description

Purdue Agronomy Farm Corn Canopy/Soil (781807)

The purpose of this experiment was to examine the effects of soil background (soil moisture) on the spectral response of corn. The treatments were:

2 surface moisture levels (moist and dry)
Four replications were used.

Spectral reflectance measurements were made with the Exotech 20C field spectroradiometer system. Radiant temperature and overhead color photographs of the canopies were obtained simultaneously with the reflectance measurements. The agronomic measurements of the plots included development stage, percent soil cover, plant height, plant biomass, surface soil moisture and conditions. Grain yields were measured at harvest time.
