in Remote Sensing Award
Award Guidelines
- OBJECTIVE: To recognize academic achievement and professional
potential in remote sensing as related to a specific discipline at
Purdue University.
- AWARD: The award is a certificate suitable for framing and a
monetary award from the earnings of the Kristof Endowment Fund.
Additionally, the recipient's name is engraved on a plaque in the
LARS office.
- ELIGIBILITY: The recipient must have completed at least one
year of study at Purdue University and should have made a
professional contribution such as conducting research in advancing
the knowledge of remote sensing, presenting seminars, and
assisting with teaching remote sensing courses in Purdue's remote
sensing program.
- NOMINATION PROCEDURE: An application document must be prepared
by a nominator and submitted to the LARS Director by April 1 of
each year. The document should include evidence of Academic
Achievement documented by (1) graduation index, (2) listing of
remote sensing courses and grades, and (3) academic awards and
recognition. Professional potential should be documented by (1)
concise statement of career goals, (2) reports prepared (contract,
departmental), (3) refereed publications (published and
submitted), (4) other published papers such as proceedings,
abstracts and laboratory materials, (5) membership in professional
organizations, (6) honors and awards including membership in
honoraries, (7) leadership in student and other organizations, and
(8) work experience or co-op education.
- SELECTION: The award recipient is chosen by the members of the
LARS Awards Committee and the LARS Director. The selection is
announced in May.
- PRESENTATION: The awardee will be named at a special Remote
Sensing Seminar and the cash award will be made at that time.
- SPONSOR: This annual award has been made possible by gifts
given by former colleagues and friends of Dr. Stevan J.
Kristof.
